Your Questions About “sample Briefing Paper”

Nancy asks…

Computer Diagnosis?

One day Bill complained to his friend, “My elbow really hurts, I guess I should see a doctor.”

His friend offered, “Don’t do that. There’s a computer at the drug store that can diagnose anything quicker an cheaper than a doctor. Simply put in a sample of your urine and the computer will diagnose your problem and tell you what you can do about it. It only costs $10.”

Bill figured he had nothing to lose, so he filled a jar with a urine sample and went to the drug store. Finding the computer, he poured in the sample and deposited the $10. The computer started making some noise and various lights started flashing. After a brief pause out popped a small slip of paper on which was printed: You have tennis elbow. Soak your arm in warm water. Avoid heavy lifting. It will be better in two weeks.

Late that evening while thinking how amazing this new technology was and how it would change medical science forever, he began to wonder if this machine could be fooled. He decided to give it a try. He mixed together some tap water, a stool sample from his dog and urine samples from his wife and daughter. To top it off, he masturbated into the concoction.

He went back to the drug store, located the machine, poured in the sample and deposited the $10. The computer again made the usual noise and printed out the following message:

Your tap water is too hard. Get a water softener. Your dog has worms. Get him vitamins. Your daughter is using cocaine. Put her in a rehabilitation clinic. Your wife is pregnant with twin girls. They aren’t yours. Get a lawyer. And if you don’t stop jerking off, your tennis elbow will never get better.

Expert answers:

Well, you’re in a fix, aren’t you. Here are some sources to get you back on the right track.

Find a speech here from Switzerland on whatever topic you are researching. Search in the Index to Speeches. This site has helped me out when I needed to learn about Vanuatu’s view on micro-lending — not an easy task, I assure you!

All about Switzerland

If you are really in a bad place, you can contact Switzerland’s embassy to the UN.

In general, Switzerland is a liberal, pro-UN, West-friendly nation. They will take a hard line stance against torture, a moderate position on international conflicts (they are NATO-friendly but are generally fairly harmonious and non-interventionist), and they will be a cooperative international player in promoting better health standards.

Good luck!

Linda asks…

i need help on a research paper !!!!?

Your Aunt Crazy has just hit the lottery and has decided to give you money to purchase a car.  She has decided to give you $500.00 a month towards your purchase.  This money needs to be used to purchase a car and pay for insurance (“Your Fault” is not an insurance company).  You now have the opportunity to buy any car that will fit into your budget.  Before you begin, you are asked to trade in any car in your family to help with your finances.  Enjoy the shopping experience!!

Task
Your cover will consist of a title.  You may use any title you wish.  This page must also include your name, class period and date.  Be creative and design a cover that is colorful and interesting.
Your second page will be the specifics of your new car.  This will include all of the options and the price that were quoted by the dealer.  You may add a picture of this car if you can find one.
The third page will be specifics on the vehicle that you traded in, including the price that was suggested by Kelley Blue Book or Edmunds.
The fourth page will explain the payment for your new car including the insurance that you will purchase for the car and the monthly breakdown for both payments.
The fifth page will be economy information on your car such as mileage in city and open roads.  Also included on this page will be a safety rating for your trade-in vehicle and the new car that you are purchasing.  You must provide two examples of cars that have the safest rating and two that have the poorest ratings.  Give a brief explanation on why two cars you chose have a poor rating.  Also on this page, you are to explain the “Lemon Law” and provide information on this law that protects consumers.
The sixth page will be dedicated to scams.  You are to search the resources to find 4 dealer scams and 4 insurance scams that you should be aware of when purchasing a car and insurance.
The seventh and final page will consist of a detailed explanation on how to jump start your car.  You can also find this information in the resources provided for you.  Lastly, you must give credit for information that you borrowed from a source.  Always give credit where credit is due!!

1.  Must I use the recommended resources to complete this assignment?
You may use any web resources that you would like to use.  Just keep in mind that the sites that you choose must be within the guidelines.
2.  Do I have to credit my resources?
Yes you must!!  It is very important to give credit where credit is due….Make sure you copy and paste the web sites address of all sites that you use on the last page of your assignment.  This includes any pictures or text that you borrowed from another source.
3.  Can I use a digital camera or scanner for parts of my project?
You most certainly can!!  Use anything that you want to put pictures in your project.  The more creative you are, the better your grade will be.

Expert answers:

Oh this is an easy one. Take the most expensive car your family owns for trade in. Look up the kelly blue book price online. This can be a jumping off point. Then go to somewhere like vehix.cm and look for the kind of car you like in a reasonable price range (like $169 a month) then go to like progressive and get a free rate quote. The hardest part is making the numbers fit, but I guess the point of the paper is to simulate real life.

Thomas asks…

What is a contemporary essay?

I need to write one for a paper and I’m not sure what it is…if you could give me a brief description on what it is that would rock

P.S. Best Answer has example links!

Expert answers:

Contemporary means now/at present/at the same time. It would be more difficult to find an essay which wasn’t contemporary. Does the question refer to the contents of the essay (for instance an essay written during WW2 about WW2 was contemporary when it was written) or written today about the news in today’ s paper or an essay written today about a past event such as WW2? In as much as you are writing it now it is going to be contemporary. Whether you choose to make it a contemporary exploration of a past event or a contemporary study of a current (contemporary) event seems to be your choice. If you have not been given a subject I would select something that is happening right now and which you feel passionate about (or at the very least interested in). This gives you scope to discuss the history leading up to the situation as you describe it today. I presume the quality of the writing and the presentation is the most important part of the exercise. If you can write an essay about the history of beauty pageants or cheer leaders it is just as valid as the election of the first black president. Remember it is important to have references for your sources of information even if it is a subject you know about.

plz help!!!!

Expert answers:

My mom is a nurse, and says that you should go to a doctor. You could be allergic to meat. Possible it could be things that come from animals being that you had eggs as well.

Try eating very bland foods. Half a cup or less — of Seven-Up, ginger ale, or Jell-O. Do this for four to eight hours. If you feel like it, try eating saltine crackers or dry toast. Don’t start to eat other solid foods for at least 24 hours. Doing this could make you nauseated/vomit again.

Since it’s been around 2 weeks, you should REALLY go to the doctor.

Your Questions About “portable Device For Writers”

Daniel asks…

Is there a portable device that can be used to store movies on, and then copy/burn to a disc whenever needed?

I have over ten thousand movies in my home colection on DVD DISC and would like to make some space in my house.

Expert answers:

You can use PC.. But its not portable..
Or you can use Laptop..
I found eeePC manufactured by asus.. The LCD only 7″ inch
but you will need portable hard disk and portable DVD writer..

You can also ‘rip’ the dvd into smaler size.. There is alot of software out there..

John asks…

Looking for the name of a portable keyboard?

It’s advertised in Writers Market magazine. If you don’t subscribe to it, it is like this:

stores up to 200 pages
connects to your computer and loads what you typed to where you left off.
full size keyboard
weighs about 2lbs.
mini screen to see what you’ve written.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Expert answers:

It is Asus EEE Keyboard. It looks like and is named “keyboard” but it is actually a full functional personal computer with Intel Atom processor. It is more like a netbook.

In the place of the conventional keypad on the keyboard, there is a touchscreen. That is the mini screen to see what you’re written. It also has built-in wideband HDMI, so you can use TV or monitor as the output device.

Use the link for more information. The idea is not new. It is actually what the personal computer looked like before 1980, just getting slim.

Sandy asks…

Is a tablet a good device for someone who likes to write a lot?

I know they’re more portable and slightly more convenient than a laptop, but are they any good for writers/school work, or should I just stick to my laptop?

Expert answers:

They are kinda a pain when it comes to typing or really needing to delve into a subject, unless you have a full keyboard attached. In which case I would just get a laptop.

Your Questions About “best Writing Devices”

Lisa asks…

How much electronics does a network interface device driver programmer need to know?

So I am getting started with writing device drivers. Specifically those used for network interfaces be they Ethernet cards or wireless adapters. Now when it comes to writing a driver, regardless of the operating system, there is going to be “device specific” code for the actual device. Is it necessary for someone who writes network device drivers to know something about the actual electronic workings of such a device? For example, the basis of modulation encoding of frames as they are transmitted and of course decoding radio signals into frames. I do imagine that wi-fi cards can only detect radio signals within a narrow band width. I wish I had a decent technical book about this. Any suggestions? And yeah, I’m a total n00b to device driver development but hey, gotta start somewhere!
Cronin: Are there network devices with open source hardware interface information? I need to actually practice writing device drivers so I can have something to present to a potential employer.

Expert answers:

You mostly need to know how microcomputers work internally: memory addressing, interrupts, and that kind of stuff. This should be a cinch if you have ever done any coding in assembly (if you want to code device drivers, it might be a wise investment to learn some by the way).

You might want to check out the DNIS developer’s reference and get used to the APIs for coding the drivers that you are interested in.

Jenny asks…

How to write a good, engaging novel opening?

Out For English I have to retweek my novel opening. My first draft was a fail, one of the reasons being was my English teacher did not find it interesting at all, which I found quite insulting as some parts of the novel opening are based on my life, but hey.
I really want to get at least a B in English which means my writing folio must be decent.
The novel opening is about 2 brothers, around the age of 15 and 6 whose father dies in a car accident, they are sent to live with their mother whom they haven’t seen in many years. But it is not to their knowledge that their mother has manic depression. The mothers different state of mind is alluded to through showing her to be anxious, unable to control her finances and a isolated from the outside world. The children and the reader are unaware of what exactly is up with the mother, as if this were to be a full novel, her illness would be revealed later. The start is really just about the children moving in with their mother and the first few days spent with the mother.

Basically what can I do to make this novel opening top notch? What about an opening chapter of a novel really engages you? The description of setting? the development of an interesting character? the use of imagery and writing devices such as metaphors? The use of a wide range of vocabulary? What else really pulls you in?

Don’t worry if you cba reading the most of this, just read the above paragraph and answer. The most useful and developed answer gets best answer :)

Expert answers:

You’re story seems very interesting and you have a good future in writing..
But I have some tips for you.
Try to consider these “3 Keys How To Write A Book With Ease”.
1. KNOW YOUR READER- traditionally, we are writing a book because we have some personal ideas in mind and want to share it with others. We want to share our own ideas, experiences to everybody without thinking if is it what our readers wants, if that is what they need? We focus n ourselves and forgetting the purpose why we are writing and it is for our readers.
2. CREATE A STRUCTURE-make an outline for your book so it would be so easy for you to edit or add any changes.
3. FILL IN THE BLANKS- ” the road to someday will leads to a town of nowhere”. We always say that I want to write a book someday, if I am ready enough to do it, etc and this will leads us to nowhere. If you want to write a book then start it NOW. This fill in the blanks is somewhat try to imagine yourself as the readers, ask yourself a questions what you want to know, what are your expectations from a book, questions that you think will probably the one that your readers are asking, etc and when you can answer it, you are now aware what are the needs of your readers.

And if you were able to follow this simple steps, then you are in the right track.

Donna asks…

How to become a better song writer?

I want to be a good songwriter, however I want to write songs with no rhyming patterns and I really can’t do it, any advice and tips? Also, where can I get good ideas and what are good techniques and writing devices to use in song writing?

Expert answers:

To be a good lyricist, you need to be both good at rhyming and also at metaphors with big messages that don’t rhyme. Don’t put yourself in a category so you can’t surprise anyone.

For a song without structured lyrics to work, the melodies are the feature.

Your Questions About “briefing Paper Example”

Richard asks…

Think of a mathematical function that represents something from your own life.?

Think of a mathematical function that represents something from your own life. For example, suppose the number of beers you drink depends on the number of football games you watch. If you drink five beers during every football game, the function would be. Number of Beers (B) = 5 times Number of Football Games (F), or B = 5F.
But suppose you drink 2 beers each day irrespective of football, but in addition you drink four beers during every football game. In this case:
Number of Beers (B) is 2 + 4 x Number of Football Games, or B = 2 + 4F.
Write a brief paper describing a linear function that comes from your own life. It should relate a particular ‘thing’ to another ‘thing’. It could be something about the amount of money you spend, the number of minutes you spend on the phone, number of miles you run each day, number of push ups, etc…

Expert answers:

The amount of Money (m) I make is directly related to the amount of hours I work (w). My hourly rate of course is proportional to my education (e)
Therefore
m=ew

However things get more complicated becuase they take out taxes (t).
M = ew – t

Worse yet, the taxes (t) greatly increase with the amount of liberal democrats (d) that get elected into office

m = ew – td

So much so that if one gets elected in October (and keeps all those promises) I can count on
td > ew
So that
m ew
and with mu
td = 0

I hope that helps!

David asks…

Looking for standard heights of doors, windows, cabinets?

Hello to all. As the title suggests, I’m looking for some reference in regards to the standard placements of windows, doors, cabinets and such things. I can usually find what I need on the internet, but it is exhausting looking for each individual item. I have recently begun to get into 3d architectural visualization and would like to build up my portfolio a bit more. Maybe by giving a brief example of common things I would need might be helpful. I started to design a bathroom this morning and had to google how high the standard height for a toilet paper dispenser was, how high and how big the average bathroom window is, the average height of a glass shower, how high the shower nozzle is placed. Maybe you see what I’m getting at now. I did in the end find most of what I was looking for, but I would like to have it all in one reference spot. I had come across something like this years ago but haven’t seen it since. I’d like to preferably find something free, but wouldn’t mind paying around $40 if it was exhaustive. Any help is as always appreciated.

Expert answers:

Try Sweet homes3D a good piece of software also from experience in the building trade standard door heights are 2.1M from dpc level on and windows also upstairs windows are normally 2M from top of joists another piece of software you might like is Instant Architect hope this info helps you somewhat.

Michael asks…

What is the focus of Judaism?

I’m doing a paper on the five major world religions, and I’d like a brief description of the focus of Judaism. For example, Buddhists meditate and follow the Eightfold Noble Path to liberate themselves from suffering in life on Earth, and Christians aspire to go to heaven after life on Earth. What (and where) is the focus of Judaism?

Expert answers:

The end game of Judaism is to maintain their covenant with God (as chosen people) and to perpetuate Judaism through bloodlines.

Your Questions About “sample Of A Briefing Paper”

Donna asks…

What is the format to a biology experiment paper?

I have just concluded a 3 week biology experiment. The teacher did not clearly explain how the paper should be set up. I am not so sure. Is it like this?
1) introduction page
2)materials page
3) experiment page
4) conclusion page
5)bibliography

I am not sure on how to set up this college biology laboratory paper. I am sure many of you have done this type of papers. Please help. Thanks
It’s a college biology I experiment paper; it should be at least 5-7 pages

Expert answers:

1. Abstract: give a brief overview of your entire paper. Reasoning, brief methods, essential results and possible applications of your findings.

2. Introduction: why you did the experiment. What previous experiments have shown that led you to do this particular experiment. What you hope to learn from the experiment.

3. Materials and Methods: include the instruments you used and their manufacturers; the exact method you used, stepwise. Consider dividing your method section (such as sampling technique, DNA purification, etc).

Maria asks…

How do I create a report/research paper on a business topic?

I was given this assignment at work and while I often write on medical topics I’ve never written anything on business or a corporation. Where can I find sample outlines, or can u kindly share with me? Would really appreciate it, thank you!

Expert answers:

1) Cover Sheet. This should include full title of the report and your name.

2) Title Page. Contains report title, name and organization for whom the report has been created, author’s name and date of fulfilment.

3) Acknowledgements page. Always include it into your research or business report saying thank you to people who helped you with work. Besides, your business report writing will be successful if you refer to every person thanking him for some concrete assistance.

4) Summary Abstract. Usually includes the topic chosen for your paper and the scope of project. It should be completed when the report is written so that you discuss its main parts and make conclusions. Summary Abstract must be of interest to other researchers containing contemporary information.

5) Table of Contents. This page contains paper structure with numbers for every heading and subheading for the reader’s convenience. At first, a draft is created in order to organize material and ideas, though it may be changed during the report writing.

6) The List of Tables, Figures and Illustrations. You need to number all figures and tables presented in a business report and list them in order they are given. If you use more than seven tables and/or figures, you should list them on a separate page giving the page numbers they can be found in the work. Place figures, illustrations and tables in the following order: list of figures, list of tables, list of illustrations.

7) Executive Summary or Summary of the Report. This is an overview of the entire document. It should show the reader what this report is about. It includes the purpose, reviewed literature, methodology you chose, brief list of your findings and recommendations.
8) The Body. The Body of your report writing is the main part of the paper that contains all important materials and data necessary for the research of the issue. The body includes literature review, methodology, results or findings, analysis and discussion sections. Literature review helps you to place the research into a background context and show its significance as well as critically analyze scholarly articles and books, which relate to your topic. Methodology contains methods and principles, which you used in your research. Besides, in this section you must explain why you have chosen these methods for report writing and discuss ethical issues of the topic. Results and findings section contains the presentation of facts and the results of your research. It usually includes figures and tables. Analysis and discussion section shows the way you use your findings and how you compare them with findings of other researchers.

9) Conclusion. This is the final part of work. You should summarize your findings and draw conclusions, which are supported by evidence.

10) Recommendations. Make it with some suggestions concerning further research of the topic.

11) Appendix. Report may contain an appendix or several ones, which may present a copy of a questionnaire, maps, calculations, plans, etc.

12) Bibliography. List all the sources, which have direct reference in the paper. The sources should be referenced in the text using Harvard citation style.

How do I find a topic for a policy brief?

I have to write a policy brief for my International Relations class. How do I choose/find a topic to write about? I’m considering doing something with Brazil and their offshore oil expenditures but I’m not sure how I would make the prompt for the policy brief specific for the problem. What would I write about then? Although I google searched this, I still don’t understand what to do or how to specify the topic so an explanation would be appreciated. Any other topic suggestions are also appreciated. Thanks!
What about damming of the mekong river for hydroelectric energy development. Would that be “international” in some aspect?

Sandy asks…

How do I get pictures to show when the stupid box with the red x shows up?

I’ve just recently learned that fanfiction, a site that I visit daily has added a mandatory Captcha to their log in page. I have a problem which the code won’t show up and that stupid box with the red x shows up. I’ve tried refreshing the page, I’ve tried right clicking and hitting “Show Picture” but nothing works. I’m locked out of my account because of it and want to know if there is any way possible to bypass that.

Expert answers:

It’s FFN server that’s down right now. A lot of people are having the same issue right now and there’s nothing that can be done about it on our end only there’s

I suggest that you email them support@fanfiction.com and complain and hopefully that’ll get them to move their butts

William asks…

What is the use of a site visit in history?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of going on a site visit trip instead of a history lesson e.g. Hampton Court Palace.

Expert answers:

A site visit can tell you a lot about both the past and the present.

Seeing the site of an event (or just a site of daily life long ago) can tell you things that aren’t recorded in any written texts.

But seeing a restored historical site can also tell you a lot about the attitudes and priorities of the modern people or organization that did the restoration. What do they emphasize, what do they omit, etc.

Robert asks…

Citing poetry in MLA format?

I am doing an analysis of two short poems in a paper of about 7 pages. I am wondering how to do the in text citations using footnotes. Just by the type of paper this is, I am quoting the poems throughout.

Do I really need to put a footnote every time I have a quotation. Each one would be exactly the same and there would be about 6 per page. Both are from the same source. The Field Day Anthology of Irish Writing, Vol. IV: Irish Women’s Writing and Traditions (Cork: University Press, 2002). One poem is anonymous and the other is not. Within the anthology, sources are given for where the text and translation are from.

I am also using a secondary source in a small part of the paper, the source is a brief commentary on one of the poems within an analysis of this type of poetry.

Would it be appropriate to just put a citation just once for each poem since the other quotations are obviously from the same source? Would it be appropriate to just have a works cited page instead of footnotes with the page reference? It just seems unusual to be put the same citation so many times on the same page.

How do you suggest doing this?

Expert answers:

Normally, if the source is evident from the text itself, a “pp. X-y” reference is fine; further references to the same page can just be marked “ibid.”

Your Questions About “briefing Paper Example”

James asks…

I have to write a paper for gym?

I need a brief description of volleyball, a description of the proper skills techniques, 2 stragtegies for use of the skills, explaination of the rotation and scoring, 3 examples of proper etiquette during the game

Expert answers:

Well I’m not sure about the proper skills techniques sorry.

But two strategies could be having a back line player that comes in and out as needed without having to sub. They are called a libero. Another strategies is to have two setters instead of just one. This way if the team has two good hitters who set they can still hit, and not have to play back line at all.

Explination of rotation: http://volleyball.about.com/od/volleyballformations/ss/sixtwo.htm
This website has everything on rotation. I mean everything. It’s kind of hard to explain in not a lot of words.

Scoring:
Everytime the a team doesn’t return the ball, either during a serve or play, then the other team gets one point. The games go to 25 points, and then the teams switch sides. You play a total of at least three matches during one game of volleyball. This also can get a little complicated. In order to end the game, the winning team has to win three matches. The matches can only go up to 5. At five there are special rules and stuff. Also for scoring, if someone touchs the ball twice, misses a serve, and it goes out then the other team gets the point.

Three examples of proper etiquette:
Shake hands after game.
Staying on your teams side of the net.
Be kind during the other teams practice time.

I hope this helps!

Examples of socially deviant behaviors?

For my sociology class, I have to write a brief paper about a deviant social behavior. Does anyone have any ideas of what I could write about?

I was thinking polygamy, but I’m having trouble finding non-biased sources.
Deviant necessarily mean wrong. Deviant behaviors are behaviors that go against social norms. For example, abortion could be a deviant behavior, but picking your nose could be too.

Expert answers:

Woman burping or farting.
Picking wedgies.
Celibacy.
